Moving North
Returning to my roots in North East England, I embraced the role of Head of Classical Music at Sage Gateshead and Royal Northern Sinfonia. Working under the experienced and generous guidance of Simon Clugston, I honed my artistic and programmatic senses and my keen eye for innovation. I devised and delivered the annual season of concerts with Royal Northern Sinfonia complemented by a roster of world-class artists and ensembles. I developed innovative concert formats including semi-staged oratorios, contemporary works, and cross-genre collaborations with notable artists such as Ben Folds and Sting.
In my efforts engage new audiences, I launched a series of gala concerts, the orchestra's first concerts for babies, and relaxed performances. I initiated the community choir project, Inspiration Choir, which successfully expanded to Leeds and Southampton. Additionally, I led the commissioning of live performances of the beloved children's films The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child. I took on the leadership of Royal Northern Sinfonia, the UK's only full-time chamber orchestra, deepening my understanding of supporting artists and fostering collaboration.

Collaborating closely with the orchestra members in Dublin, I successfully initiated cultural changes that boosted morale and confidence, paving the way for a more ambitious and fulfilling future for all involved. My work at London Sinfonietta focused on supporting the development of a new Business Plan and Strategy as the ensemble passed its 50th anniversary season
